Agri-Tourism

What is Agri-tourism? It's a new term and growing in popularity.

Remember going with your grand parents to visit the local orchard and pick up a bushel of apples? That delicious, ripe, juicy, mouth watering apple? It tasted so good because it was picked just an hour before. Or what about the trip with your parents to pick out the family Christmas tree. You would look for what seemed like hours for the perfect tree. Then Dad always had to cut it twice before it would even fit in the front door of the house. Or what about that school trips in the 3rd grade when you got to see where milk really comes from, and not the grocery store. And while there you got to pet all the sheep, goats, lambs and calves and chase the chickens. Agri-tourism is a way for you to relive those memories or create new memories and share the experience with your family and friends.

Agri-tourism is a fun travel experience to an agricultural area to participate in an activity, pick your own fruits or vegetables, and take a tour or vacation that occurs on a farm. This may include the chance to help with farming tasks during the visit, help care for animals, enjoy a demonstration or enjoy the pastures and farm lands.
