The Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development Awards $50,000 to Washington County for Economic Development Plan

Baltimore, MD (May 15, 2012) – The Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development (DBED) today announced that it has awarded a $50,000 grant to the Hagerstown-Washington County Industrial Foundation to help develop an Economic Development Strategic Plan (EDSP). The plan, expected to be completed by November, will help expand Washington County’s economic base by guiding smart investments, attracting new businesses and creating jobs to ensure high-paying jobs for future generations.

The Washington County Board of Commissioners Tuesday stressed its commitment to helping existing businesses expand as they fielded questions from local business leaders at the first of two State of the County presentations.

Lehigh Phoenix, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Visant Corporation, has recently announced the expansion of its state of the art complex in Hagerstown, Washington County, Maryland.  The company, which originally relocated to Washington County in 1992, is a leading provider of book components and short run books for the trade and educational publishing segments.

County Commissioners approve Resolution -- Welcome new company

Today the County Commissioners approved a resolution for endorsement of the State of Maryland’s $70,000 MEDAF loan and $25,000 conditional loan from the County for Dynamark Monitoring, Inc.  

The Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development, under the Maryland Economic Development Assistance Authority, has agreed to conditionally loan Dynamark Monitoring, Inc. up to $70,000 from the Maryland Economic Assistance Fund (MEDAF).
