A Boonsboro business that specializes in finding ways to defeat improvised-explosive devices on the battlefield has been awarded a share of a $450,000 grant to continue its research, according to a state corporation.
The Boonsboro-based ES&T Inc., and five other Maryland companies were awarded about $75,000 each, the Maryland Technology Development Corp. said Monday in a news release.

Wind tunnel testing of a scale model of the Dream Chaser orbital crew vehicle has been completed in the Oran W. Nicks Low Speed Wind Tunnel at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Aerodynamic data generated from this testing, coupled with data from computer simulations, will define the characteristics of the Dream Chaser lifting body vehicle during the approach and landing phase of flight. This information will assist Sierra Nevada Corporation engineers in preparing for the Dream Chaser vehicle’s first free flight test scheduled for the third quarter of this year.
Hagerstown, MD (April 27, 2012) – The Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (DLLR) just released unemployment figures for the month of March indicating the Washington County unemployment rate decreased from 9.3% in February to 8.2%. This is excellent news for Washington County because this is one of the lowest unemployment figures reported since 2008. In November of 2011, the unemployment rate was also 8.2%.
