Proposals sought for the development of a Strategic Economic Development Plan for Washington County and the City of Hagerstown, MD

Hagerstown, MD (January 6, 2012) – The Hagerstown-Washington County Industrial Foundation, Inc. (CHIEF) is seeking proposals from qualified firms with relevant and demonstrable experience for the development of a Strategic Economic Development Plan for Washington County and the City of Hagerstown in Maryland (the Plan).
 
Firms interested in responding to this RFP should submit a “Letter of Interest” to the project’s CONTACT OFFICER by February 1, 2012 to ensure they are a registered bidder.

Washington County's Incubator Changes Name to Reflect Its Complete Mission

The business incubator at Hagerstown Community College (HCC) has adopted a new name to better reflect its evolving purpose and mission.  Since opening in 1994, the incubator has operated under the name Technical Innovation Center (TIC).  Starting in Jan. 2012, the incubator will now be named "The Center for Entrepreneurial and Business Development."

The new name reflects the broad spectrum of services and programs to the entrepreneurs and the small businesses of the County.

Washington County to spend $100,000 on analysis projects at airport

The Washington County Board of Commissioners Tuesday approved funding for two Hagerstown Regional Airport projects.

The commissioners agreed to spend $70,000 on an environmental assessment of all remaining sites in the airport’s northwest quadrant. The study is expected to take 18 to 24 months.

The commissioners also agreed to spend $35,000 on a land valuation analysis, or appraisal, of property at the airport, expected to take about six months.
