Finalists Announced for the 14th Annual Washington County Business Awards

Hagerstown, MD (January 3, 2013) The Washington County Business Awards Committee is proud to announce the finalists for their 14th Annual "Academy Awards" style-event which will be held on Wednesday, February 27that the Hager Hall Conference and Event Center in Hagerstown, Maryland.

 

This event is co-hosted by the Hagerstown-Washington County Chamber of Commerce and the Hagerstown-Washington County Economic Development Commission and is one of the most anticipated events of the season!

 

The black-tie optional event begins with a cocktail reception at 5:00 p.m. followed by a banquet dinner at 6:15 p.m.  Pieter Bickford will again emcee the program, and comedian & magician Michael Kent will entertain the audience prior to the awards portion of the evening.

At Your Service:

Awarded to a Washington County retail or service business for undertaking actions that generates customer loyalty and satisfaction.

Going Green Award:

Awarded to a Washington County business that integrates environmentally friendly operating practices and procedures.

*    Hagerstown Community College

    

Large Business of the Year Award (50+ employees):

Awarded to a Washington County business that has demonstrated any or all of the following: product or service quality, job creation, innovation, strong community involvement, high standard in business practice, commitment to Washington County and the community.

*    Horizon Goodwill Industries

*    Potomac Edison, a FirstEnergy Company

 

Small Business of the Year Award (below 50 employees):

Awarded to a Washington County business that has demonstrated any or all of the following: product or service quality, job creation, innovation, strong community involvement, high standard in business practice, commitment to Washington County and the community.

Leading Edge Award:
Awarded to a Washington County business that leverages technology to advance their organization. This may be an innovative use of an existing technology, a new invention offered for sale, or creating or developing a significant advancement that serves as an inspiration for future progress.

*    Ongoing Operations

 

Non-Profit Award:

Recognizes and honors a 501c3 organization with a Washington County based Board of Directors that provides exemplary services and/or programs. The recipient receives an unrestricted grant of $1,000, made possible by the Community Foundation of Washington County, Maryland.

Washington Co. Business Person of the Year:

Awarded to a Washington County business person who, during the last year, has demonstrated excellence in business, enhanced the image of the business community and/or has provided superior service to business and the community as a whole.
