Hagerstown, Md. (December 2, 2013) – The Washington County Department of Business Development Office of Agricultural Business Development would like to invite farmers and the agriculture community to join the Washington County Agricultural Business Forum on December 5, 2013 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Washington County Agricultural Education Center, 7303 Sharpsburg Pike, Boonsboro, Md.
Throughout the day, local and regional Ag vendors will be on-hand to market goods and services. Guest speakers will deliver information on a variety of topics related to the agriculture community. The following is a tentative schedule of events:
9:00 a.m. – Registration and refreshments
9:30 a.m. – Maryland Department of Nutrient Management Update – Bryan Harris, Keith Potter; Nutrient Management Specialist, MDA
10:00 a.m. – Understanding your Health Care Choices – Lynn Little, UME Washington County
10:45a.m. – State/Local Perspective
11:15 a.m. – Managing Slugs in No-Till Fields – John Tooker, PSU
11:45 a.m. – Lunch
12:30p.m. – The Potential of Cultivar Mixtures to Enhance Pest Management – John Tooker, PSU
1:15p.m. – Nitrogen Management in Small Grains – Lynne Little, UME Washington
2:15 p.m. – Pesticide Update – Jeff Semler, UME Washington County
A free lunched will be served to Ag vendors and farmers, courtesy of Mid-Atlantic Farm Credit. The Ag Business Forum is hosted annually by University of Maryland Extension, Washington County and the Washington County Office of Agricultural Business Development.
