The business incubator at Hagerstown Community College (HCC) has adopted a new name to better reflect its evolving purpose and mission. Since opening in 1994, the incubator has operated under the name Technical Innovation Center (TIC). Starting in Jan. 2012, the incubator will now be named "The Center for Entrepreneurial and Business Development."
The new name reflects the broad spectrum of services and programs to the entrepreneurs and the small businesses of the County.
Since its opening, the incubator has provided facilities and development services to hundreds of firms that have created an excess of 300 jobs in the region. The incubator's core activities will focus heavily on helping STEM based firms establish themselves in their early years. The center is currently recruiting entrepreneurs starting biotechnology (wetlabs), cybersecurity, and alternative energy businesses, as these align with HCC's current programmatic initiatives.
