University of Maryland Extension to Host Beginning and Small Farms Conference

Hagerstown, Md. (January 13, 2015) – The Washington County Department of Business Development Office of Agricultural Business Development is pleased to invite agricultural entrepreneurs and anyone interested in farming or producing food to Appalachia Grows, January 23 - 24 at Frostburg State University, 101 Midlothian Road in Frostburg.  

Friday’s seminars will focus on helping new and beginning farmers plan and Saturday vendors will be available to discuss the latest products and services. Learn from farm business experts during two days of programming including:

  • Selecting property
  • Marketing and social media strategies
  • Livestock and meat and egg production
  • Vegetables and small fruit
  • Natural resources
  • Post-harvest handling
  • Tree production and composting
  • Hiring and managing labor and more
